You never know what to expect for Montgomery weekend. It is held the first weekend of October so the weather can be pleasant and cool, hot and muggy, or whatever else Mother Nature likes to have happen that weekend. The last time I attended, Hurricane Joaquin was making its presence known on the East Coast so it rained all four days of the cluster. Because of the amount of rain, the Devon Kennel Club show was cancelled on Saturday because of the fear that RVs would become immersed in the muddy show site.
This year, Arie and I attended on Saturday and Sunday only. The weather was hot and humid on Saturday (I ended up getting sunburnt watching judging after Borders were done) and Sunday had rain periodically throughout the day and something like 98% humidity.
Weather aside, Arie showed in the Puppy class, which included puppies from age 6 months to 11 months 30 days (under 12 months) of age. Looking at the catalog, Arie was the youngest puppy in the ring with other puppies almost ready to turn 12 months old.
Showing outside always provides lots of distractions but Arie did really well and he placed a respectable 3rd both days, especially considering his age compared to the other puppies. I was happy with how he moved and paid attention to me, now we just need to work on standing still for more than 3 seconds!
