My dogs and I participate (or have participated) in agility, earthdog, rally obedience, and conformation events. Additionally, both my Reggie and Halo passed the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and Halo was certified as a therapy dog. But most of all, my dogs are my housemates, companions, and bed warmers.
I comply with the BTCA Code of Ethics and BTCA recommendations for health clearances for dogs who will be bred (cardiac, patellas, hips, eyes, and the SLEM DNA test which became available in October 2017). Reggie, my first conformation dog, was included in the first group of Border Terriers to receive a CHIC registration.
I joined the Border Terrier Club of America (BTCA) "parent club" in 2000. In addition to having served as a BTCA Board Member and Officer, I have also been a member of several parent club committees and served as Chairman of the BTCA Breed Book Committee for a number of years.
I am also a member, past President and current Vice President of the Border Terrier Club of Central Ohio (BTCCO) regional club and a member, past Officer, and current Board Member of the Central Ohio Kennel Club. I previously belonged to Wild Weavers (no longer in business), Agility and Rally for Fun (ARF), and Columbus All-Breed Training Club but my knees don't allow me to run agility anymore, so it made sense to drop those memberships.
Additionally, I am an AKC Earthdog Judge and am qualified to judge all class levels (Intro to Quarry through Master). I love watching terriers do what they were originally bred for and have judged earthdog tests throughout the Midwest, in Virginia, and in Canada.
