With Arie earning his AKC Championship in January 2018, I knew I wanted to spend this year working towards a Grand Championship for him. We attended the Detroit Kennel Club shows in Novi, MI on June 23 and 24, 2018 with great results.
On Saturday, June 23, Arie went Select Dog and Best of Breed Owner Handled for a 5 point major (and defeating Champions of Record) under Judge Robert Hutton. We had a photograph taken so it will be posted when it becomes available.
On Sunday, June 24, Arie went Select Dog and Best of Breed Owner Handled again, this time for a 3 point major (and defeating Champions of Record) under Judge Elliott Weiss.
Combining the wins for both days means Arie earned 8 points, along with two major wins and defeating Champions of Record two times for the weekend.
To earn a Grand Championship, AKC's requirements are that a dog must receive three major wins under three different judges, defeat Champions of Record three times, and earn a total of 25 points. Arie's wins this past weekend have him well on his way towards meeting the requirements needed for a Grand Championship.
